Charles Lee - Managing Director

Charles has been passionate about horse racing from an early age and has gained over twenty five years experience in horse racing. He commenced his career in bookmaking in the UK in the early 80's where he covered a number of management and operational roles including on-course bookmaking, marketing and P.R.

Charles joined Paddy Power in 1996 where in addition to a number of general operational roles he managed the company's racing and sportsbooks during which time he developed excellent racing contacts in both Ireland and the U.K..

Charles entered horse ownership in 2002 through racehorse syndication, with a winner at Cheltenham in 2003 the highlight prior to the launch of Byerley in 2006. Byerley had their first runners in 2007 and our highlights to date include two Listed Stakes winning fillies, Forthefirstime and Aspectoflove, both purchased for less than 31,000gns and both trained by John Oxx.                                                              Forthefirstime was sold at the end of her 3 y-o racing career for 85,000gns in Dec' 08 and is now a broodmare. Aspectoflove was purchased by Godolphin at the end of her 3 y-o racing season for a considerable sum and subsequently won a Grp 2 race, bringing her career earnings to date (as at Oct '11) to over £250k.                                  Our two previous NH horses to date both won races for Jessica Harrington and Willie Mullins respectively including Grade 2 Novice Hurdle winner Lambro. We have also had winners on the flat trained by Ger Lyons in Ireland and Richard Hannon in the U.K including 2 y-o Kid Suitor in 2011..     (Above November ' 11).

                Jessica Zhang, Financial Accountant

Jessica Zhang Jessica joined the Byerley team in the summer of 2007 as Financial Accountant via Amergin Consulting Ltd.  She is originally from Shanghai, China and has been in Ireland for nearly 7 years. She is an affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)  and holds a Post- Graduate Diploma in Business Study from Dublin Business School in addition to a BA in Economics from Shanghai University. Jessica helps out with some administration in addition to looking after the day to day accounts.

BBA Ireland is one of the oldest bloodstock agents in the world. Based in Kill, Co.Kildare the BBA Ireland, established in 1956 it is now also one of the world's largest bloodstock agents with global reputation within the industry.

The BBA Ireland are one of the leading buyers at the principal bloodstock sales in both Ireland and the UK. They have bought numerous Group winners in the past including multiple Grp 1 winners Alexander Goldrun, Kooyunga and Saoirse Abu, (to name a few only). 

Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock Ltd

Since Peter established his bloodstock agency in 1978 with his wife Anna, Peter and his team have enjoyed remarkable success around the world. Their son Ross joined the agency in 2001 becoming the third generation of Bloodstock agents in the family. Peter's agency is ideally located in Kilcoole, Co.Wicklow. 

Peter himself is modest about his achievements, but published statistical surveys in some of the most respected industry journals show that his judgement places him firmly at the top of his profession.

Background

Peter and Ross have a family background steeped in racing. The late Jack Doyle, Peter's father was described as "the doyen of bloodstock agents" and for some 60 years was a major force in the industry. When Peter was working with his father, yearling purchases included Classic Winner Bruni and European Champion Sprinter Sandford Lad.
 
Winning Partnership  
The most successful bloodstock agent/trainer partnership in racing in the past 20 years has been that of Peter Doyle and champion UK handler Richard Hannon. A host of group winners have been purchased for satisfied owners. A special niche has been carved by the team in the valuable sales related races and the pair have compiled an enviable record in races such as the Tattersalls Breeders Stakes,  the Goffs Million Races and the Weatherbys Super Sprint - all leading 2 y-o races.        Recent Group Winners  The following is a selection of recent Grp 1 winners from the past few seasons who were bought by Peter and his son Ross:-  Indian Ink, Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, Scintillo (Gran Criterium, Italy), Paco Boy & Canford Cliffs (both multiple Grp 1 winners), Elusive Wave, Dick Turpin etc, plus most recent Group winners inc' Strong Suit, Harbour Watch, Lilbourne Lad etc..,
